De drankjes zijn vooral bekend van lange feestavonden als &#8220;shot&#8221; en &#8220;short&#8221;. Vroeg of laat grijpt men op elke lange avond naar de &#8220;short&#8221;. Deze drankjes worden rechtop gedronken en worden gekenmerkt door een korte vulling. Shots cre\u00ebren snel een feeststemming voor grote en kleine groepen. Dit is waarschijnlijk de reden waarom shotrecepten zo populair zijn.<\/p><p>Er zijn vrijwel geen grenzen aan de fantasie bij dit type cocktail. Van de eenvoudige shot (sterke drank gegoten in een glas van niet meer dan 4 cl) tot zogenaamde bommen (shotglas valt in een ander glas (meestal energiedrank of bier)), alles kan worden besteld en gedronken. Op een ontspannen cocktailavond worden shots, korte drankjes en shooters meestal niet gedronken. Zelfs de consumptie van dure, hoogwaardige gedistilleerde dranken dient niet als shot te worden genuttigd. Deze dure, hoogwaardige gedistilleerde dranken moeten puur, met ijs of in heerlijke cocktails worden gedronken.
