Old Pal Cocktail
The Old Pal Cocktail is a very classic drink that can be strongly compared to the Negroni. However, instead of gin, this drink uses rye whisky. This gives the drink an edgy character and a deep and complex flavour profile. We show you an Old Pal recipe that allows you to prepare and enjoy the whisky cocktail in just a few minutes. Old Pal Cocktail Recipe
- 3 cl Rye Whiskey
- 3 cl Dry Vermouth
- 3 cl bitter aperitif
Step by Step Guide
- Add all ingredients and ice to a mixing glass.
- Stir well for at least 15 seconds.
- Strain into a martini or coupe glass and garnish with an orange zest.
The Old Pal Cocktail is actually very simple to prepare and can be made in just a few steps, even by cocktail beginners. First measure the rye whiskey (you can also use bourbon). For a particularly memorable taste, however, we recommend Rye Whiskey), Vermouth and Bourbon. It’s best to use a jigger or bar measure so that you really have a balanced ratio. Put all the ingredients in a mixing glass and add about ice. Stir the mix well. You can use a bar spoon or a tablespoon for this. After stirring for at least 15 seconds, you can pour the drink without ice into a pre-chilled martini or coupe glass. Now just garnish with an orange zest and then serve or enjoy yourself!
This is what the Old Pal Cocktail tastes like
The Old Pal is a very tart and strong cocktail, which is characterised by spicy flavours. Sweet and intensely fruity flavours are not to be found here. Instead, the edgy taste of rye whiskey meets the bitter-tart sweetness of Vermouth and Campari. The taste is particularly suitable for all those who like classic cocktails. Alcoholic notes can also be clearly heard. Just try the whisky cocktail yourself and be surprised by its unique taste!
