Japanese Sour

The Japanese Sour Cocktail is strongly based on the classic recipe of a whisky sour. However, the whisky is changed in this cocktail (instead of bourbon, a Japanese whisky is used here) and the lemon juice is supplemented by yuzu juice (the juice of a Japanese citrus fruit). If you like whisky sours, you should definitely try our Japanese Sour recipe. Have fun making it and enjoy!

The Japanese Sour Cocktail is prepared in exactly the same way as all other sour cocktails. Measure out all the ingredients with a jigger and pour them into a cocktail shaker. Make sure that you do not add ice to the shaker. This allows the egg whites to be beaten until they are nice and frothy. After shaking for about 20 seconds, add a few ice cubes and shake again for about 10 seconds. Then strain the drink into a tumbler filled with ice. Now just garnish with a lemon zest or cocktail cherry and serve!

This whisky cocktail has a deep flavour profile that is very similar to the Whisky Sour. Here, the interplay of a spirit with sweet and sour flavours is clearly the focus. Some sweetness from the honey completes the profile and creates a multi-layered taste experience. The use of an egg white provides a creamy taste that can even convince whisky critics!
