The Ramos Gin Fizz is a simple cocktail to prepare. If you want to prepare this gin cocktail, you should first measure out all the ingredients except the soda water with a jigger and then pour them into a cocktail shaker. Do not add ice to the shaker yet. First shake this drink for about 10 seconds without ice. This allows a nice head of foam to form. After about 10 seconds, add the ice cubes to the shaker and shake it for another 10 seconds. Now you can strain the mix through a bar strainer into a tumbler and then grit it with a lime wedge. More info about the Ramos Gin Fizz
As with any cocktail, the origins of this drink are not entirely clear. According to some sources, the drink was first prepared in 1888 by Henry Charles “Carl” Ramos in the Imperial Cabinet Saloon in New Orleans. Along with the Sazerac or Gin Fizz, this drink is one of the most famous cocktails in the city. To this day, New Orleans is considered one of the most famous cities when it comes to the creation of cocktails that are still in circulation even today.
Unlike the Sazerac, however, the Ramos Gin Fizz focuses on a fruity and sweet taste. This makes this cocktail one of the first in which the alcoholic notes are more in the background. The drink is really unique and varied in taste. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should definitely do so! Over the years, the recipe has changed again and again and has been modified in various ways. To this day, however, the classic basic recipe is one of the most popular of its kind, especially among fans of classic cocktails.
